Khái quát về so sánh hơn

So sánh hơn là gì?

Công thức so sánh hơn (Comparative form) là cấu trúc so sánh cơ bản trong tiếng Anh, được sử dụng để so sánh đặc điểm, tính chất của hai người, sự vật, hiện tượng với nhau để xác định sự khác biệt giữa chúng.

Công thức so sánh hơn

So sánh hơn với tính từ/trạng từ ngắn

Công thức:

S + V + Short adj/adv_er + than + O/ Clause/ N/ Pronoun

• The cheetah is faster than the lion. (Con báo đốm nhanh hơn sư tử.)
• This smartphone is cheaper than the one I saw yesterday. (Chiếc điện thoại này rẻ hơn chiếc tôi thấy ngày hôm qua.)

Lưu ý: 

• Với những tính từ/trạng từ ngắn có 1 âm tiết, ta chỉ cần thêm đuôi -er vào ngay sau tính từ đó để tạo thành dạng phù hợp trong công thức so sánh hơn. 

Ví dụ: loud → louder, fast → faster

• Với những tính từ/trạng từ có 2 âm tiết kết thúc bằng “y”, ta chuyển “y” thành “i”, thêm đuôi -er. 

Ví dụ: Happy → happier, funny  → funnier, silly → sillier

• Với những tính từ/trạng từ ngắn có kết thúc bằng 1 phụ âm nhưng trước đó là 1 nguyên âm, gấp đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm đuôi -er.
  Ví dụ: Big → bigger, slim → slimmer, thin → thinner

So sánh hơn với tính từ/trạng từ dài

Công thức:

S + V + more + Long Adj/adv + than + O/ Clause/ N/ Pronoun

Ví dụ: 

• The Grand Canyon is more magnificent than any other natural wonder in the world. (Vịnh Grand Canyon tuyệt đẹp hơn bất kỳ kì quan tự nhiên nào khác trên thế giới.)

• She solved the puzzle more efficiently than anyone else in the group. (Cô ấy giải quyết câu đố hiệu quả hơn bất kỳ ai khác trong nhóm.)

Lưu ý:

• Những tính từ/ trạng từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên, kết thúc bằng “ly”, giữ nguyên đuôi “y”, thêm more vào trước để được so sánh hơn. 

Ví dụ: Quickly → more quickly, carefully → more carefully

• Thêm “far”, “much”, “a lot” vào trước cụm từ so sánh để nhấn mạnh. 

Ví dụ: Her performance was much better than his. (Màn biểu diễn của cô ấy tốt hơn nhiều so với anh ấy.)

Một số cấu trúc so sánh hơn khác

• Cấu trúc so sánh hơn gấp theo bội số thường được sử dụng để diễn đạt mức độ khác biệt giữa hai người, sự vật, sự việc bằng cách nói rằng một cái gì đó lớn hơn hoặc nhỏ hơn cái kia bao nhiêu lần.

Công thức

S + V + số lần + as + Adj/adv + as + N

Ví dụ: This car is four times as expensive as that one. (Chiếc xe này đắt gấp bốn lần so với chiếc kia.)

• Cấu trúc so sánh hơn cấp tiến “càng thì càng”: Đây là cấu trúc so sánh cấp tiến, thể hiện sự nhấn mạnh trạng thái, càng thế này thì càng thế kia.

Công thức:

So sánh hơn + so sánh hơn

Ví dụ: The more you practice, the better you’ll become at playing the piano. (Bạn càng luyện tập, bạn sẽ càng giỏi hơn trong việc chơi piano.)

Khái quát về so sánh nhất

So sánh nhất là gì?

Công thức so sánh nhất (Superlative) trong tiếng Anh được sử dụng cho người, vật hay hiện tượng nhằm mục đích nêu lên đặc điểm khác biệt, tính chất nổi trội hơn hẳn so với các đối tượng còn lại trong một tập hợp nhất định. Trong so sánh nhất, nhóm đối tượng so sánh phải có ít nhất từ ba đối tượng trở lên.

Công thức so sánh nhất

So sánh nhất với tính từ/trạng từ ngắn

Công thức: 

S + V + the + short adj/adv_est + O/ Clause/ N/ Pronoun

Ví dụ: 

• This cake is the sweetest dessert I’ve ever tasted. (Chiếc bánh này là món tráng miệng ngọt nhất mà tôi từng thử.)
• He is the smartest student in the class. (Anh ấy là học sinh thông minh nhất trong lớp.)

Lưu ý:

• Khi so sánh nhất, chúng ta sẽ thêm đuôi “est” vào cuối các tính từ/trạng từ trong câu. Những tính từ và trạng từ trong một câu so sánh nhất phải đi kèm với “the”. 
• Với những tính từ/ trạng từ ngắn có 1 âm tiết, ta thêm đuôi “est” vào sau. Ví dụ: short → shortest.
• Với những tính từ/trạng từ có tận cùng là e thì chỉ thêm “st”. Ví dụ: late → latest.
• Với những tính từ/trạng từ có 1 âm tiết, kết thúc bằng nguyên âm + phụ âm, gấp đôi phụ âm và thêm “est”. Ví dụ: fat → fattest.
• Với những tính từ/trạng từ có 2 âm tiết kết thúc bằng phụ âm y, ta đổi y thành i và thêm “est”. Ví dụ: pretty → prettiest.

So sánh nhất với tính từ/trạng từ dài

Công thức:

S + V + the most + Long Adj/adv + O/ Clause/ N/ Pronoun

Ví dụ:

• The sunset at the beach is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. (Hoàng hôn ở bãi biển là điều đẹp nhất mà tôi từng thấy.)
• The Louvre Museum in Paris is known for housing the most famous artworks in the world. (Bảo tàng Louvre ở Paris nổi tiếng vì chứa đựng các tác phẩm nghệ thuật nổi tiếng nhất thế giới.)
