Problem & Solution là một trong những dạng bài của phần thi IELTS Writing Task 2. Dạng bài này yêu cầu người viết đưa ra nguyên nhân và hướng giải quyết về một vấn đề nào đó, trong đó bạn chỉ cần dành một đoạn thân bài đề viết về nguyên nhân và đoạn còn lại để viết về phương hướng giải quyết.
1.1. Xác định và phân tích câu hỏi

Trong đoạn thân bài, chúng ta không cần đưa thêm ý nào mới nữa mà chỉ cần tóm lược lại những gì đã trình bày trong phần thân bài.
Ngoài ra các bạn cũng có thể đưa thêm dự đoán (prediction) hoặc lời khuyên để kết thúc bài viết của mình.

The devastation brought about by this was clear for all to see during the 2011 Tsunami in Japan, in which millions of people were displaced. Climate change is among the principal dangers facing people this century and ocean levels are increasing dramatically. It is true that there is an increasing number of human-related activities posing grave harm to the worldwide temperature. As far as I am concerned, this phenomenon can result in serious problems, which can be tackled using appropriate measures.
It is possibly said that this issue may be caused by some main factors. One of the prominent reasons concerning this problem is constructing a large number of factories. This is because the authority has the propensity for cutting down a hundred hectares of forest to make place for building manufacturing facilities, which led to the fact that the flora and fauna’s habitat was destroyed. Henceforth, deforestation is considered as the chief culprit behind the deterioration in the biodiversity’s quality. Another factor leading to this situation is the proliferation of the population. This means the acceleration in using private vehicles. The transportation’s exhaust emission exerts detrimental impacts upon the air and people’s health, resulting in the alarming rate of respiratory-related diseases.
In truth, some imperative measures ought to/ should be taken to resolve these prospective issues. Restricting the building of factories or manufacturing facilities is highly recommended. This is proven to reap greater benefits in preserving the majority of primitive forests as well as exotic and rare breeds of animals and plants, which prevent them from utter extinction and help to restore the natural balance. It is the government’s responsibility to encourage individuals to use mass transits. Therefore, the air contamination will be decreased and its quality will also be enhanced. In addition, the citizens are encouraged to turn to use renewable- energy vehicles as an alternative to the fuel ones to protect the environment and their health status.
In conclusion, there are indeed various repercussions regarding human activities’ detrimental impacts upon the environment, yet, they can be solved once measures are enlisted imperatively.

Each year, the crime rate increases. What are the causes of crime and what could be done to prevent this rise in criminal activity? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Crime is an issue of increasing concern around the world. The reasons why people commit crimes are countless, but drugs and alcohol, social problems and poverty play a major role. To solve these problems, governments can either focus on draconian punishments or improve employment opportunities, invest in good housing projects and tackle drug and alcohol abuse.
One of the main causes of criminality is the use, sale and trafficking of narcotics. For example, the sale of drugs is organized by armed criminal gangs who illegally traffic drugs and control their business with extreme violence. Drug-related crime does not end there; drug users often steal to fund theft habits, resulting in further acts of petty crime. The social problems connected with the crime are said to be the result of single-parent families, absent role models and bad living conditions. The children from these broken families often become criminals because they feel alienated from society. Poverty is also a reason behind the crime. When unskilled jobs pay so little and prices are so high, it’s easy to see why some turn to crime for an income.
Crime can, of course, be dealt with by toughening criminal laws and introducing longer custodial sentences for persistent criminals, but some of the best ways to deal with a crime may be to deal with the social causes. Increasing employment opportunities in poorer areas would improve living standards, which would mean access to affordable housing and education. Government funding for drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs would help reduce dependency on stimulants and the need for the criminal activity that surrounds them.
In conclusion, crime is a major issue, but cracking down on offenders with a harsh penal system is not the only way. These problems can be solved through the government providing jobs and funding which should raise living standards and dramatically reduce crime levels.
