Tổng quan về Thì hiện tại đơn
Cấu trúc
Cấu trúc của Thì hiện tại đơn (Present Simple tense) như sau:
Với động từ To be:
- Khẳng định: S + am/is/are + N/ Adj
- Phủ định: S + am/is/are + not + N/ Adj
- Nghi vấn Yes/No: Am/is/are + S +…?
Trả lời: Yes, S + am/is/are. / No, S + am/is/are + not.
- Nghi vấn Wh-: WH-word + am/is/are + S (+ not) +…?
Trả lời: S + am/is/are (+ not) +….
Chú ý:
- I + am
- He/ She/ It/ Danh từ số ít + is
- We/ You/ They/ Danh từ số nhiều + are
- I am = I’m; is not = isn’t; are not = aren’t
E.g.:
- I am a student. (Tôi là học sinh.)
- She isn’t Vietnamese. (Cô ấy không phải người Việt Nam.)
- Is she a doctor? (Cô ấy là bác sĩ à?) –> Yes, she is./ No, she isn’t.
Với động từ thường:
- Khẳng định: S + V1
- Phủ định: S + do/does + not + V-infinitive
- Nghi vấn Yes/No: Do/does + S + V-infinitive?
Trả lời: Yes, S + do/does. / No, S + do/does + not.
- Nghi vấn Wh-: WH-word + do/does + S (+ not) + V-infinitive…?
Trả lời: S + V1
Chú ý:
- He/ She/ It/ Danh từ số ít + V(s/es)
- I/We/ You/ They/ Danh từ số nhiều + V-infinitive
- Do not = don’t
- Does not = doesn’t
- Nếu trong câu có trợ động từ do/does hay don’t/doesn’t thì ta không thêm s/es vào sau động từ.
E.g.:
- We catch the bus every morning. (Chúng tôi bắt xe buýt mỗi sáng.)
- She doesn’t understand English. (Cô ấy không hiểu tiếng Anh.)
- Does he want some tea? (Anh ấy có muốn uống chút trà không?) –> Yes, he does./ No, he doesn’t.
- What does she like to do at the weekend? (Cô ấy thích làm gì vào cuối tuần?)
- She likes to play computer games. (Cô ấy thích chơi trò chơi máy tính.)

Cách sử dụng và dấu hiệu nhận biết
Chúng ta sử dụng thì hiện tại đơn để nói về những hành động, thói quen lặp đi lặp lại, sự thật chung, mong muốn và cảm xúc. Thì này cũng được sử dụng để chỉ đường và hướng dẫn, cũng như để nói về thời gian biểu và lịch trình.
Dấu hiệu nhận biết thì này bằng cách nhận thấy trong câu có các trạng từ tần suất như always, sometimes, usually, often, rarely, never,… hoặc every + thứ/ngày/tháng/năm…
E.g.:
- Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius. (Nước sôi ở 100 độ C.)
- I usually don’t go out in the evening. (Tôi thường không ra ngoài vào buổi tối.)
- Where does she come from? (Cô ta đến từ đâu?)
