So sánh là một trong những kiến thức Ngữ pháp tiếng Anh cơ bản mà người học ngôn ngữ này cần nắm được. Đặc biệt là đối với các bạn học sinh lớp 10,11,12 đang trang bị kiến thức cho kỳ thi THPT Quốc gia, bài tập về so sánh luôn xuất hiện trong đề thi môn tiếng Anh. So sánh ngang bằng (Equality)

Với tính từ và trạng từ

• Cấu trúc khẳng định: 

1. Tính từ: S1 + be (chia theo thì)  + as + adj + as  + S2 + (O)
2. Trạng từ: S1 + V (chia theo thì)  + as + adv + as  + S2 + (O)

• Ví dụ:

Examples	Meaning
She is as tall as Lan in my class.	Cô ấy cao bằng Lan trong lớp tôi.
She drives as well as her brother does.	Cô ấy lái xe tốt như anh trai của mình vậy.

• Cấu trúc phủ định:

Ở dạng phủ định, chỉ cần thêm NOT vào sau động từ TOBE nếu so sánh tính từ/ Mượn trợ động từ và thêm NOT sau trợ động từ nếu so sánh trạng từ

Examples	Meaning
She is NOT as tall as Lan in my class.	Cô ấy không cao bằng Lan trong lớp tôi.
She DOES NOT drive as well as her brother does.	Cô ấy không lái xe tốt như anh trai của cô ấy.

Với danh từ

• Cấu trúc:

1. Danh từ đếm được: S + V + as many/ few + N (số nhiều) + as + S2+(O)
2. Danh từ không đếm được: S + V + as much/little + N (không đếm được) + as + S2 + (O)

• Ví dụ:

Examples	Meaning
Peter  has as many exercises as his brother does.	Peter có nhiều bài tập như anh trai của mình.
I don’t have as much money as my friends do.	Tôi không có nhiều tiền như những người bạn của mình.

So sánh hơn  (Comparative)

Với tính từ/trạng từ ngắn

• Cấu trúc: S1 + V + adj/ adv + er + than + S2 + (O)
• Ví dụ:

Examples	Meaning
He learns harder than his elder brother does.	Anh ấy học chăm hơn anh trai của anh ấy.
She looks happier than (she did) yesterday.	Hôm nay cô ấy trông tươi tỉnh hơn hôm qua.

• Lưu ý một số tính từ/trạng từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên vẫn dùng cấu trúc tương tự tính từ/trạng từ ngắn. Đó là các tình từ/trạng từ kết thúc là các đuôi:

Hậu tố	Ví dụ
-y	Happy, easy, friendly,…
-er	clever,…
-le	single, simple…
-ow	narrow, slow ….
-et	quiet…

Với tính từ/trạng từ dài

• Cấu trúc: S + V + more + adj/ adv + than + S2 + (O)
• Ví dụ:

Examples	Meaning
She is more intelligent than her sister.	Cô ấy thông minh hơn em gái của mình.
Lily dances more beautifully than other competitors.	Lily nhảy đẹp hơn các đối thủ của cô ấy.

Với danh từ

• Cấu trúc:  S + V + more + N + than + S2+ (O) 
• Ví dụ: 

Examples	Meaning
She has more money than me.	Cô ấy nhiều tiền hơn tôi
My younger brother has much more free time than me.	Em trai có nhiều thời gian rảnh rỗi hơn tôi.

So sánh hơn nhất  (Superlative)

Với tính từ/trạng từ ngắn

• Cấu trúc: S + V + the + adj/ adv + est + (O)
• Ví dụ:

Examples	Meaning
My dad gets up the earliest in my family	Bố tôi dậy sớm nhất nhà.
He is the oldest student in our class.	Anh ấy là học sinh già nhất lớp tôi.

Với tính từ/trạng từ dài

• Cấu trúc: S + V + the + most + adj/adv + (O)
• Ví dụ:

Examples	Meaning
She is the most warm-hearted person that I have met.	Cô ấy là người tốt bụng nhất tôi từng gặp.
Mary sings the most beautifully in the group.	Mary là người hát hay nhất nhóm.

Với danh từ

• Cấu trúc: S + V + the + most + N + (O)
• Ví dụ: 

Examples	Meaning
Alex has the most cars in our neighborhood.	Alex có nhiều xe hơi nhất xóm chúng tôi
Peter is a billionaire. He has the most money	Peter là tỷ phú, anh ta có nhiều tiền nhất.
